Russian companies in September spent a record 39% of their profits on interest payments on credit obligations, indicating serious financial pressure on businesses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to the Central Statistical Office, the situation in the Russian economy is deteriorating due to the war: corporate profits fell by 8.3% in the first eight months of the year, while their losses increased by 30%.<\/p>\n

The total amount of liabilities of Russian businesses (loans + bonds) reached 99.3 trillion rubles (~$1.2 trillion), which significantly increases the burden on companies.<\/p>\n

Due to high interest rates and more expensive financing, the profitability of Russia’s industrial sectors is declining – this is especially painful in construction, the automotive industry, woodworking, and the service sector, analysts say.<\/p>\n

The CSD warns: the combination of high debt, falling domestic demand, and declining profitability could push the Russian economy into a deep crisis, and this will continue as long as the war continues.<\/p>\n

Recall that in Russia, the non-food retail sector continues to collapse.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, one of the key players in the Russian agricultural industry, Rostsilmash, has reduced production capacity and introduced a three-day work week starting in August.<\/a> The reason is a sharp drop in sales and financial instability.<\/p>\n
