{"id":1323274,"date":"2025-11-20T20:03:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T18:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/torture-sanctions-eu-imposes-sanctions-against-those-involved-in-roshchina-s-death\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T20:03:57","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T18:03:57","slug":"torture-sanctions-eu-imposes-sanctions-against-those-involved-in-roshchina-s-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/torture-sanctions-eu-imposes-sanctions-against-those-involved-in-roshchina-s-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Torture sanctions: EU imposes sanctions against those involved in Roshchina&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">The European Union has imposed sanctions against ten Russians involved in the torture of civilian hostages and the persecution of the opposition.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"> <span class=\"s2\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/press\/press-releases\/2025\/11\/20\/human-rights-violations-in-russia-eu-sanctions-an-additional-ten-individuals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was reported<\/a> to the EU Council.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"> <span class=\"s1\">The restrictions have been imposed on the heads of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service units in the Rostov region, including employees of SIZO No. 2, where Ukrainian prisoners of war are held. According to the EU, at least 15 prisoners have died due to torture and ill-treatment. Among them is Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"> <span class=\"s1\">The EU documents state that the prisoners were regularly beaten, malnourished and had almost no access to medical or legal aid. During interrogations, they were subjected to psychological and physical pressure to extract confessions of &#8220;terrorism&#8221; or &#8220;war crimes&#8221;.
