The Kremlin called the shutdowns &#8220;justified and necessary.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/CenterCounteringDisinformation\/16264\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">was reported by<\/a> the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, citing a statement by Putin&#8217;s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.<\/p>\n<p> According to the Central Intelligence Agency, the Russian authorities have long been using a strategy of systematically restricting the population&#8217;s access to online resources, using arguments about &#8220;security.&#8221; At the same time, the Internet is being turned off even in regions located more than a thousand kilometers from the border with Ukraine, as happened in Ulyanovsk, where mobile communications were restricted &#8220;until the end of the war.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> The Center emphasizes that Peskov&#8217;s statement indicates a further strengthening of digital bans.
