Global oil prices continued to fall on Friday as U.S. efforts to broker a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia intensified. Investors have been reducing their risk appetite amid expectations and monetary policy uncertainties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noted that Brent futures as of 14:17 GMT fell by $1, or about 1.6%<\/strong> , to $39 per barrel. American WTI oil fell by about 1.9%<\/strong> , or $1.10, to $57.90. According to journalists, both contracts could lose more than 2%<\/strong> for the week, completely erasing last week’s gains.<\/p>\n

Analysts say the price dynamics are linked to rising market tensions as peace talks intensify. Journalists say Washington is pushing ahead with a plan to end the three-year war between Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, US sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil came into effect on Friday, weighing on traders’ expectations.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed his willingness to work with Washington on developing a peace plan.<\/p>\n

“News of the talks came on the same day sanctions against two of Russia’s largest oil companies came into effect, somewhat reducing the risks to Russian oil supplies,” said Deutsche Bank Managing Director Jim Reed.<\/p>\n

Experts note that a deal does not yet look guaranteed. Journalists report that ANZ analysts in their note warn of previous cases when Kyiv rejected Russia’s demands as unacceptable. The market also remains cautious about the effectiveness of the restrictions on Rosneft and Lukoil. In particular, Lukoil was given until December 13 to sell its large international assets.<\/p>\n

The market dynamics are also influenced by the strengthening dollar. Journalists report that the US currency is showing its best week in more than a month due to investor expectations that the US Federal Reserve will not cut interest rates in December.<\/p>\n

“According to CME FedWatch, the probability of a rate cut in December has dropped to 35%, while a month ago it was around 90%,” said OANDA analyst Kelvin Wong.<\/p>\n
