In the highlands of the Ukrainian Carpathians, persistent frost and strong winds were recorded on Mount Pip Ivan, the temperature dropped to -12\u2070C. This creates dangerous conditions for tourists and requires appropriate equipment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported<\/a> by the Mountain Rescuers of Precarpathia.<\/p>\n

As of 7:15 a.m. on Monday, November 24, rescuers on Mount Pip Ivan recorded cloudiness, limited visibility, a southwest wind at a speed of 10 meters per second, and an air temperature of -12\u2070C.<\/p>\n

The highlands are experiencing typical late autumn conditions with sub-zero temperatures and rapid weather changes throughout the day. Pip Ivan is often the first Carpathian peak to record true winter temperatures in October-November.<\/p>\n

One of the latest measurements in the observatory area showed a few degrees below zero, with gusts of wind adding to the feeling of cold. The weather conditions were accompanied by cloudiness and periodic snowfall, which significantly reduced visibility in the highlands.<\/p>\n

“Even a few degrees below zero at altitude, combined with wind, can be dangerous in the absence of appropriate equipment,” mountain rescuers emphasize.<\/p>\n

Rescuers advise tourists to dress for the weather, use thermal underwear and insulated shoes, stick to marked routes and avoid staying in open areas for long periods during strong winds. It is also important to have communication equipment and a first aid kit with you for emergencies.<\/p>\n

Severe frost and gusty winds at altitude increase the risk of hypothermia, frostbite, and disorientation due to limited visibility. Tourists are advised to plan their trip to the mountains taking into account the weather forecast and their health.<\/p>\n
