Russia is curtailing educational opportunities in the temporarily occupied territories and turning education into a tool of control. Teenagers are effectively barred from prestigious majors – law, economics, journalism, and technical fields. Formally, the occupiers talk about “labor market balance,” but in reality they are restricting access to higher education.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There are few quotas, competition is artificially inflated, and local “branches”<\/span> of Russian universities offer only those specialties that the occupation administration needs. At the same time, the Russian Federation recognizes the shortage of teachers and the decline in the quality of education, but instead of developing it, it is converting the system into a vocational school format – “working professions needed by the state.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Young people at TOT are being trained either for hard physical labor or for military service. In the agricultural sector, “agrotechnical classes” are already being created – in effect, a conveyor belt of cheap labor.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Additional pressure is also exerted through gender roles: early pregnancies are promoted, access to abortions is restricted, and boys are sent to mobilization structures.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As a result, Russia does not give Ukrainian teenagers a future on TOT – it forms a resource that is easier to manage.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Ukraine managed to return two families with children from the occupation to the controlled territories as part of the presidential initiative Bring Kids Back UA.<\/a><\/p>\n

We remind you that three children were returned to Ukraine from the temporarily occupied territories, as well as a young man<\/a> who was illegally taken to the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n
