Despite this, some consumers do not see a decrease in their electricity bills.

YASNO explains why this happens and how to turn shutdowns into real savings .

Outages reduce the overall load on the power system and help avoid accidents, but this does not guarantee an automatic drop in bills. According to Serhiy Kovalenko, CEO of YASNO, it all depends on how the household uses electricity during periods when the power is on .

Why bills remain high

1. Meter readings are transmitted untimely.

In this case, the supplier calculates based on average daily consumption. The amount is higher than actual usage.

2. After the light appeared, many powerful appliances were turned on at the same time.

Consumers are trying to “overclock” their machines by running washing machines, water heaters, stoves, kettles and chargers at the same time. This dramatically increases costs.

3. The use of heaters increases dramatically in cold weather.

Underfloor heating, convectors, and fan heaters “eat up” the most electricity – even a few hours of operation put a significant strain on your bills.

“Each family can reduce electricity consumption by 25-30% without losing comfort if they start using appliances rationally. Shutdowns can help save money, but only if we are not trying to “catch up” on our usual consumption,” explains Kovalenko.

How to really reduce your electricity bills: top tips

1. Submit meter readings on time.

This ensures that you only pay for actual consumption.

2. After the light returns, turn on the appliances gradually.

Do not run many appliances at the same time for the first 20-30 minutes.

3. Use heaters more rationally.

Don’t set the temperature to maximum, insulate your home, and choose energy-efficient models.

4. Postpone “heavy” appliances (washing, drying, dishwasher) for the evening or night hours.

5. Turn off the equipment completely.

Routers, TVs, and chargers also consume power in standby mode.

6. Replacing lamps with LEDs – simple savings of up to 80% on lighting.

It was previously reported that the Russian occupiers struck energy infrastructure in a number of regions, in particular, facilities in the Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions were under enemy attack.

Recall, on the night of November 24 , Russian troops attacked Ukrainian regions with 162 Shahed, Gerbera, and other types of drones.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

Due to constant enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure in Ukraine, long power outages continue – in some cities there is no power for 10 hours or more per day.
