The Ukrhydrometeorological Center has published a preliminary forecast for the first winter month of 2025. The average temperature in December is expected to be several degrees higher than normal, but it is worth preparing for traditional winter surprises – snowfall, ice, and blizzards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to<\/a> weather forecasters, the average monthly temperature in Ukraine will range from -3\u00b0 to +5\u00b0, which is approximately 2\u00b0 warmer than the climate norm.<\/p>\n

In the southern regions and Transcarpathia, the temperature will rise to +2\u00b0 in places, and in Crimea it is possible to reach +6\u00b0.<\/p>\n

Absolute minimum temperatures are traditionally lowest in the east and in the Carpathians \u2013 from -22\u00b0 to -34\u00b0, in places up to -38\u00b0 in the eastern and western regions.<\/p>\n

The absolute maximum is expected to be within +9\u00b0\u2013+20\u00b0, and in Crimea \u2013 up to +26\u00b0.<\/p>\n

Regarding precipitation, the predicted figures are:<\/p>\n

34\u201378 mm in most areas;<\/p>\n

in mountainous areas \u2013 up to 105 mm, where snow and rain will be more frequent;<\/p>\n

Snow cover will form in most regions, in the south and in Crimea it appears rarely or for a short time.<\/p>\n

Meteorological winter in most parts of the country starts in the first decade of December, in the south – a little later. In the northeast and in the Carpathians, the cold comes earlier, sometimes as early as the end of November.<\/p>\n

In December, you should also expect:<\/p>\n

strong gusts of wind;<\/p>\n

blizzards and sleet accumulation;<\/p>\n

fog and ice during thaws.<\/p>\n

Thus, December 2025 promises to be variable: warm in some places, and severely wintry in others. Overall, the month will be warmer than the average climate norm by about 2\u00b0, making it more comfortable compared to typical December cold.<\/p>\n

We remind you that in the highlands of the Ukrainian Carpathians on Mount Pip Ivan, persistent frost and strong winds were recorded, the temperature dropped to -12\u2070C.<\/a> This creates dangerous conditions for tourists and requires appropriate equipment.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Ukraine is entering a period of drastic climate change, which will significantly change the appearance of various regions in the coming decades<\/a> . Scientists predict that some regions will become much drier, while others, on the contrary, will receive more moisture and heat. Such trends can radically change the weather to which Ukrainians are accustomed.<\/p>\n
