European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has named five EU priorities that should be taken into account in a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This<\/span> is reported by<\/span><\/a> European Truth.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the official, the first priority is to ensure a just and lasting peace. The concluded agreement should guarantee security for Ukraine and European states.<\/span><\/p>\n

She emphasized that Ukraine is a sovereign country, so Europe believes that there should be no restrictions on the size of the army.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUkraine needs reliable, long-term and credible security guarantees as part of a broader package\u2026 And it is equally clear that any peace agreement must provide guarantees for European security in the long term,\u201d von der Leyen noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second European priority is the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The official is convinced that the EU cannot allow changes to state borders.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf we legitimize and formalize the undermining of borders today, we open the door to new wars tomorrow,\u201d she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

The third requirement of the European Union is to ensure Ukraine’s financial needs. In particular, the EU has undertaken to cover Ukraine’s needs for the next two years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOn this topic, we, the Commission, have presented a document with options. This includes an option regarding frozen Russian assets,\u201d added Ursula von der Leyen.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the future, the European Commission plans to present draft legal documents to cover Ukraine’s financial needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the official drew attention to the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, nothing about Europe without Europe, nothing about NATO without NATO.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Among other things, the EU demands that Russia return all Ukrainian children it abducted during the full-scale invasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Trump administration’s ceasefire plan provides for the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions<\/a> , as well as the freezing of the contact line in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said that the plan proposed by the United States regarding Ukraine and Russia is not final.<\/a> He emphasized that the document is aimed at achieving peace and can be further developed.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that after the negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva, the US peace plan for Ukraine underwent significant changes.<\/a><\/p>\n
