The European Commission commented on the searches by Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities at the offices of the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, stressing the importance of fighting corruption. The Commission stated that it will closely monitor the development of the situation and supports the lawful activities of the NABU and the SAPO.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the request of the publication, the European Commission commented on the reports about the searches of Andriy Yermak, which took place on the morning of November 28. NABU and SAPO officers conducted investigative actions in the government quarter of Kyiv.<\/p>\n

“We have seen the news about today’s searches conducted by NABU and SAPO. Our position is well known: any investigations show that anti-corruption bodies are active and have permission to work in Ukraine. The fight against corruption was a central element of our enlargement package, which defines our overall position on this issue. Let me emphasize that the fight against corruption is key for the country’s accession to the European Union. This requires continued efforts to guarantee a strong capacity to fight corruption and respect the rule of law,” said European Commission spokesman Guillaume Mercier.<\/p>\n

According to him, the European Commission will continue to closely monitor the situation and support the work of anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that on the morning of November 28, NABU detectives, together with SAPO prosecutors, were conducting investigative actions in the government quarter<\/a> , where the office of the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, is located.<\/p>\n

We will remind, the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, also appears on the “Mindich tapes” released by NABU as part of the investigation into corruption in the energy sector.<\/a><\/p>\n
