They were detained at Johannesburg airport and are being investigated for the scale of an organized recruitment scheme.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This is reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-11-29\/s-africa-arrests-men-headed-to-russia-on-army-work-suspicion?srnd=homepage-europe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bloomberg<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p> South African police have arrested four men at O. R. Tambo International Airport near Johannesburg. They were removed from a flight to the United Arab Emirates, from where they were due to fly on to Russia.<\/p>\n<p> According to the investigation, the trip was organized and recruited by an unnamed South African woman. Police are also looking for two other people involved in the scheme.<\/p>\n<p> The detainees are suspected of violating South African law, which prohibits working as mercenaries.<\/p>\n<p> The SABC reported that a prominent media personality was among those arrested, but his name was not disclosed.
