Andriy Yermak’s likely entry into the ranks of the Armed Forces may be related to an attempt to change the jurisdiction of potential cases from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau to the State Bureau of Investigation, which is considered more loyal to the government.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This version was voiced by<\/a> Oleksandr Bryhynets, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the seventh and eighth convocations, on the air of “Pryamoy”.<\/p>\n

“And if he is a military man, then the SBI will deal with him. And if the SBI deals with him, then it’s a completely different story, because the SBI, well, we know, is more loyal to Yermak and Bankova than the NABU,” Bryhynets noted.<\/p>\n

In his opinion, the Armed Forces can become a mechanism for officials to “hide” from criminal prosecution. As an example, he cited the former head of the Luhansk Oblast, Serhiy Haiday, who, according to Bryhynets, also left the service after being accused of corruption.<\/p>\n
