He stressed that under the original version of the document, Donbas, which includes Donetsk and Russian-controlled Luhansk regions, was to be recognized as de facto Russian.

“This is not a plan. This is a real surrender. There is nothing to discuss here,” said Volodymyr Rzhavsky, a senior sergeant serving near Pokrovsk.

According to him, he opposes the transfer to Russia of those parts of the Donetsk region that Ukraine still controls.

“I am against giving away those parts of the Donetsk region that we still hold,” said Volodymyr Rzhavsky.

A Special Forces lieutenant named Oleksandr, who is fighting in southern Ukraine, said he also rejects key points of the proposed plan, including a possible reduction in the size of the Ukrainian army to 600,000 people.

“No one will make concessions on the size of the army, because it is our guarantee of security,” said Oleksandr, a 43-year-old lieutenant in the Special Forces.

“No one will make concessions regarding the territories, because this is our land and we stand here,” said Oleksandr.

Military analyst Mykola Biletsky said that the situation on the front remains difficult, but not critical, and Ukraine’s defense lines are not collapsing. According to him, a unilateral withdrawal from the Donetsk region would create additional threats to neighboring regions.

He also noted that the requirement to leave the positions that the Ukrainian military continues to hold could cause strong discontent in the army.

“I won’t speculate on how people will behave if there is an order to retreat, but it is obvious that it will not be perceived positively,” said Mykola Biletsky.

Junior Lieutenant Oleg Zontov, who fought against pro-Russian forces in 2014 and again since 2022 after Russia’s full-scale invasion, said that abandoning Ukrainian-controlled territories is a highly controversial move that will cause outrage among the military.

Drone operator Dmytro Melnyk, who serves in the Dnipropetrovsk region, reported a shortage of people and equipment, but emphasized that the proposed peace plan is unacceptable to him.

“I don’t hide it, there is a constant fear of death,” said Dmytro Melnyk.

At the same time, he emphasized that even despite fatigue and losses, the Ukrainian military does not accept the demand to leave Donbas and regards it as surrender.

Earlier, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy stated that Ukraine is in an extremely difficult situation , where any talk of a “quick peace” actually means only a crushing defeat and loss of independence.

Recall that the Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated the village of Ivanivka near Novopavlivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region as a result of search and strike operations. During the operation, 53 Russian servicemen were killed and 19 more were captured.

By the way, as of October 26, 2025, Ukrainian soldiers liberated 185.6 sq. km of the territory of Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region and cleared 243.8 sq. km. Despite this, the situation remains difficult, as the enemy is increasing offensive forces.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram .

Ukrainian troops in the east and south of the country have reacted sharply to a peace plan backed by US President Donald Trump that includes territorial concessions from Russia, saying they are not ready to abandon positions in the Donetsk region even if ordered to do so.
