Legendary Dynamo player Volodymyr Muntyan, who would soon have turned 80, has died. He left a significant mark on football, winning numerous titles and playing at the international level.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“With deep sadness and a heavy heart, I received the news of the passing of the legend of our club, Volodymyr Muntyan. Volodymyr Fedorovych dedicated his entire life to football and our Dynamo, leaving an unforgettable mark in the hearts of fans, colleagues and young football players,” – expressed his condolences to the president of FC Dynamo, Igor Surkis.<\/p>\n

Vladimir Muntyan won 7 USSR championship titles, the Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in 1975.<\/p>\n

He was born on September 14, 1946 in the Odessa region. While still in school, he joined Dynamo, where he spent most of his playing career.<\/p>\n

Experts considered him one of the leading midfielders in Europe. In 1969, he was named the best football player in the USSR by the weekly “Football-Hockey”.<\/p>\n

He began his career with the USSR national team in 1968. Over 8 years, he played 49 matches and scored 7 goals. He also participated in the 1970 World Cup.<\/p>\n

Volodymyr Muntyan graduated from the Institute of Physical Education and the Faculty of Law of Kyiv University, as well as postgraduate studies in international relations.<\/p>\n

In the 1980s, he combined his playing career with coaching at Kyiv SKA and teaching at a military school. Later, he headed the Kyiv City Football Federation and was a member of the presidium of the Football Federation of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

In 1986-1988 he worked in Madagascar, where he coached the COSFAP club, which became the champion in 1988.<\/p>\n

In the early 1990s, he worked with the Ukrainian youth team. In 1994, he was the interim head coach of the national team. Later, he led the Guinean national team and led it to the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n
