Now such institutions operate not only in the occupied territories and in the Russian Federation and Belarus, but also in the DPRK. During her speech, Rashevska showed photos of children who ended up in North Korea, including 12-year-old Mykhailo from the Donetsk region and 16-year-old Lisa from Simferopol.

According to human rights activists, both children were sent to the Songdowon camp, located about 9,000 kilometers from their home, where they were forced to learn military practices and introduced to veterans who participated in the attack on the American ship Pueblo in 1968.

Rashevska recalled that Russia officially calls such actions “evacuations,” although international humanitarian law provides for strict restrictions and obligations that the aggressor does not adhere to. In particular, the occupier is obliged to ensure family reunification and provide lists of children to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The lawyer stressed that any movement of children should be temporary and under constant security control, and that their return to their families should take place immediately after the threat has passed. However, Russia has failed to meet any of these requirements.

As a reminder, Russia has begun using children abducted from the occupied territories of Ukraine in hostilities against Ukraine itself. Some of them are mobilized into the army after reaching adulthood.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

Russian occupation forces are illegally transferring Ukrainian children from temporarily occupied territories not only to Russia and Belarus, but also to North Korea.
