According to local doctors, only 139 babies were born there this year &#8211; fewer than in 2024 and three times fewer than ten years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"> <span class=\"s1\">Ukrainian regions are recording a sharp drop in birth rates and an increase in mortality. In each region, the number of deaths significantly exceeds the number of births, and the largest drop is in front-line regions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"> <span class=\"s1\">According to government estimates, the average life expectancy for men has fallen from a pre-war 65.2 years to 57.3 in 2024. For women, the figure has fallen from 74.4 to 70.9 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"> <span class=\"s1\">Millions of Ukrainians have fled abroad, hundreds of thousands have died or been seriously injured. This has left hospitals, schools and entire communities deserted.
