The negotiation process to end the Russian-Ukrainian war is entering a new phase: according to US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, Kyiv and Moscow are supposedly closer to a possible peaceful solution than ever before. At the same time, the diplomat admits that the agreements are still up in the air, and the parties frankly do not want to give in.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whitaker stated<\/a> this at a forum in Doha.<\/p>\n

The American diplomat stressed that US President Donald Trump sees the situation as “extremely difficult”, as both Ukraine and Russia are actually demonstrating a reluctance to move towards each other. According to him, the current negotiations resemble a process that is “difficult to observe from the sidelines”, but the United States continues to actively work on finding a realistic formula for peace.<\/p>\n

Whitaker confirmed that the previous 28-point US plan has been divided into four separate tracks of negotiations. They are now moving forward in parallel \u2014 separately from the NATO track, separately from the European Union track, and separately from the line of direct consultations between Washington and Kyiv.<\/p>\n

According to him, it is these four vectors that will determine whether the parties are able to reach a final document at all, which can be called a peace agreement.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Trump administration’s ceasefire plan provides for the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as the freezing of the contact line in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, after negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva , the US peace plan for Ukraine underwent significant changes.<\/a><\/p>\n
