Hungary and Slovakia oppose the European plan to abandon oil and gas supplies from Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He stressed that the “RePowerEU” plan will be adopted next week. As soon as this happens, Budapest and Bratislava will file a petition with the European Court of Justice.<\/span><\/p>\n

They will demand that the resolution be annulled and suspended while the issue is being considered in court.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the minister, Hungary and Slovakia will do this, because a ban on imports of Russian oil and gas will “make reliable energy supplies impossible” and lead to an increase in prices.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis regulation is also a massive legal fraud, as it is clearly a sanction measure that would require unanimous approval,\u201d Szijj\u00e1rt\u00f3 noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added that such European policy contradicts EU treaties, which state that energy developments are a national competence.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, on October 16,EP committees approved projects that provide for the European Union to completely abandon imports of Russian gas and oil<\/a> starting from January 1, 2026. This decision is aimed at stopping the Kremlin’s use of energy resources as political pressure on Europe.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Council of the European Union has agreed on a plan to phase out imports of Russian natural gas<\/a> , which is a key element of the \u201cREPowerEU\u201d roadmap.<\/p>\n
