The US, Ukraine, and Russia cannot advance in negotiations on a possible peace agreement because of the main issue – the future of Donbas.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

American negotiators continue to demand that Ukraine agree to give all of Donbas to Russia, while the Kremlin is trying to regain territories it never captured during the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

A European official familiar with the negotiations told Politico that the US is looking for a way to get Ukraine to give up territory. He stressed that the US side “continues to think about how to force Ukraine to leave Donbas.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Ukraine says it will only support a deal that freezes the front line at its current positions. Currently, about 30% of Donbas is under Ukrainian control.<\/span><\/p>\n

The official also noted that Russia is pressuring Kyiv to give up additional territories, and the United States is pressuring Ukraine to quickly agree to a compromise. US President Donald Trump, according to sources, is expressing disappointment with Kyiv.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ukraine is waiting to see what role Washington will take in the process: a mediator or a party that bows to Russia’s demands, and what security guarantees the US is willing to provide.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the American team is using pressure to persuade the Ukrainian side to adopt a peace agreement that is supposed to end the war.<\/a><\/p>\n
