The heads of at least ten of India’s largest defense companies secretly flew to Russia to discuss joint arms production.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported<\/a> by Reuters, citing several sources.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meetings took place in Moscow on October 29-30, during the visit of an Indian delegation led by Defense Industry Minister Sanjiv Kumar. According to sources, the Indian side was preparing the ground for Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to India on December 4-5. These talks were not publicly announced.<\/span><\/p>\n

The participants discussed the creation of joint production and supply of components for MiG-29 fighters, air defense systems and missile systems. Russia offered India to launch lines that could produce equipment not only for the Indian army, but also for export back to Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The delegation included representatives from the defense divisions of large Indian conglomerates, state-owned companies, and startups working in the fields of drones and AI for military needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The leaders of Bharat Forge and Kalyani Group considered cooperation in the production of parts for Russian-style tanks and aircraft, as well as possible helicopter-related projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the participants in the meetings was Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence and Aerospace. Also working in Moscow was the chairman of the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers, an association that brings together more than 500 arms manufacturers, including Tata Sons, Larsen & Toubro and state-owned Bharat Electronics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Experts warn that the new cooperation with Moscow could hamper India’s attempts to develop joint defense projects with the West. Western partners have previously said they cannot transfer secret military technologies to India because of New Delhi’s close ties with Russia and the large amount of Russian weapons in the Indian army.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Kazakhstan will supply crude oil to China directly from the Kashagan field for the first time<\/a> after Ukrainian drones struck the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal in Russia.<\/p>\n

Recall, India significantly reduced imports of Russian oil after Washington imposed sanctions and tariff restrictions.<\/a><\/p>\n
