As part of efforts to resolve the fighting in Ukraine, the American team is considering a \u201cKorean scenario\u201d for ending the war.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Journalist David Ignatius wrote<\/span><\/a> about this<\/span> in a column for The Washington Post.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to him, American negotiators are looking for different formulas to make Ukraine’s territorial concessions more acceptable to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/span><\/p>\n

One option is to divide the country along a contact line, following the example of North and South Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Zelenskyy stated that he has no right to cede Ukrainian territory to Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ignatius emphasized that as a result of the peace agreement, Ukraine should be a sovereign state, its borders protected by international security guarantees, it should be part of the European Union and rebuild its economy thanks to investments from the United States and Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDespite all of President Donald Trump\u2019s tough negotiating tactics and his inexplicable sympathies for the Russian aggressor, such a deal seems to be coming,\u201d the column says.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, Trump, by putting too much pressure on Zelensky and Europe, could ruin everything, and ultimately the war against Russia will continue.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the American team is using pressure to persuade the Ukrainian side to adopt a peace agreement<\/a> , which is supposed to end the war.<\/p>\n

As is known, US representatives at the peace talks , Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agree to the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk region<\/a> , as Russia insists.<\/p>\n
