The latest versions of the United States peace plan do not mention the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions to create a demilitarized zone there.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Financial Times<\/span> writes<\/span><\/a> about this<\/span> .<\/p>\n

The Trump administration’s initial proposals called for creating a border in eastern Ukraine similar to the one separating North and South Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to US proposals, the so-called \u201cneutral demilitarized buffer zone\u201d is possible provided that the Ukrainian Defense Forces withdraw from part of the territories.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, according to a Ukrainian official familiar with the peace plan, the White House is not making such a requirement for the Russian military.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that the buffer zone will be more of a short-term pause and a way to freeze the war. This will allow the Kremlin to accumulate strength and launch a new offensive.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that as part of efforts to resolve the fighting in Ukraine, the American team is considering a \u201cKorean scenario\u201d for ending the war<\/a> .<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the American team is using pressure to persuade the Ukrainian side to adopt a peace agreement<\/a> , which is supposed to end the war.<\/p>\n

As is known, US representatives at the peace talks , Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agree to the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk region<\/a> , as Russia insists.<\/p>\n
