A ceasefire in Ukraine, according to Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov, is only possible after the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He stated this in a comment to Russian media on December 12, repeating the Kremlin’s ultimatum demands regarding the occupied territories.<\/p>\n

Ushakov asserts that sooner or later Donbas will come under the full control of the Russian Federation\u2014either through negotiations or military action. He added that, in his opinion, this will determine the possibility of a ceasefire.<\/p>\n

Putin’s aide also stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “refuses to withdraw troops,” adding that such a demand was allegedly “being put forward by the Americans.”<\/p>\n

Ushakov suggested that there would be no troops from either Russia or Ukraine in the occupied territory, but Russian police and the National Guard would remain there. He also referred to Donbas as “territory of the Russian Federation” and stated that this territory “will be under the control of Russian administrations.”<\/p>\n

As part of efforts to resolve the fighting in Ukraine, the American team is considering a “Korean scenario” for ending the war<\/a> . According to a Washington Post journalist, negotiators are exploring various formulas to make Ukraine’s territorial concessions more acceptable to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n
