The Russian army launched a missile strike on the Odessa region, causing a Turkish ship to catch fire in the port of Chornomorsk. One person was injured in the attack. President Volodymyr Zelensky called Russia’s strike “military senseless” and “directed against civilian life.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire on the ship began after a series of explosions that occurred in Odessa on December 12 between 15:21 and 16:22. During this period, the Air Force warned of a ballistic weapons threat from the south, and then recorded two high-speed targets in the direction of Chornomorsk.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, one person was injured during the events. There is no information about the leakage or air pollution by chemicals.<\/p>\n

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on<\/a> Russia’s missile strike on the region, emphasizing that it has no military meaning and is aimed solely at destroying civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n

“Today, the Russian army launched a missile strike on our Odessa region, and last night there was a Russian attack on the energy sector of Odessa. At one time, we talked about the situation in this city, about the people of Odessa, with President Trump,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n

The president added an assessment of the objectives of the strike and its consequences for civilian life.<\/p>\n

“Today’s Russian strike, like many other similar strikes, did not and could not have any military meaning. A civilian ship was damaged in the port of Chornomorsk. This proves once again that the Russians not only do not take the chance for diplomacy that exists now seriously enough, but also continue the war precisely to destroy normal life in Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n

The President also emphasized the importance of international response and support for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“It is important that in such conditions the world remains guided by the right guidelines: who is prolonging this war and who is trying to end it peacefully, who is using ballistics against civilian life and who is striking precisely at targets that affect the Russian war machine. I thank everyone in the world who is trying to disseminate real information and who does not allow Russian propaganda to influence political decisions,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n

According to the President, everything is being done in Odessa and Chornomorsk to protect the lives of residents, as in other cities that have suffered from shelling.<\/p>\n

“Now in Odessa and Chornomorsk, everything is being done to protect life. Just like in Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson, Zaporizhia, and the cities of our Donetsk region. And it is necessary that the desire to fight cease to dominate in Moscow, and this depends solely on how the world reacts to Russian actions,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to everyone who is with Ukraine! Thank you to everyone who continues to put pressure on Russia to achieve real peace,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

Currently, local authorities and rescue services continue to extinguish the fire and investigate the circumstances of the impact. The extent of damage to the port infrastructure and the causes of injuries are being determined.<\/p>\n

Recall that on the night of December 4, Odessa was subjected to another massive attack by drones<\/a> , as a result of which at least six people were injured, including three in moderate condition. The rest were provided with medical assistance on the spot. The blast wave and drone debris damaged high-rise buildings, an administrative building, cars and city infrastructure.<\/p>\n
