In 2022, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine first concluded a state contract for the purchase of the Sapsan operational-tactical missile complex, and in 2025 the complex entered into serial production and systemic use.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported<\/a> by Militarny, citing the former deputy head of the state procurement department of the Ministry of Defense, Oleksandr Liev.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, the first state contract of the Ministry of Defense for the purchase of the latest Ukrainian OTRK was signed in August 2022 with the state-owned enterprise Yuzhnoye Design Bureau.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Liev emphasized that it was this decision that made it possible to launch a full-fledged program to create a missile complex and move from development to practical implementation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He also clarified the full official name of the complex – 1KR1 “Sapsan”, which had not previously been publicly disclosed.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the announced chronology, the first tests of the complex took place in 2023, the first test combat applications in 2024, and in 2025, the Sapsan entered serial production and regular use.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Thus, the Ministry of Defense secured the first state order for a Ukrainian operational-tactical missile system, which allowed the Sapsan program to be transferred to the serial phase.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that military support for Ukraine in 2025 risks becoming the lowest since the start of a full-scale war.<\/a><\/p>\n
