The administration of US President Donald Trump is ready to provide Ukraine with legally binding security guarantees based on the principles of NATO’s Article 5.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Axios<\/a> reports this, citing a high-ranking American official.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, the corresponding agreement is planned to be submitted to a vote in the US Congress.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“We want to provide Ukrainians with security guarantees that, on the one hand, are not unfounded and, on the other, are sufficiently strong. We are ready to submit them to a vote in Congress,” the source told the publication.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He also reported that negotiating teams are working on several areas simultaneously: a peace agreement, security guarantees, and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. According to the official, the recent talks have given the Ukrainian side, for the first time, a “full vision for the day after” the end of the war. Negotiations on economic recovery and reconstruction, according to an Axios source, are progressing well.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Under the current proposal, the war would end with Ukraine retaining sovereignty over 80% of its territory, receiving the largest and strongest security guarantee in its history, and a very significant package of assistance for development and prosperity,” the American official noted.<\/p>\n

At the same time, several European leaders advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy not to rush into an agreement, particularly if it included territorial concessions.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy previously stated that Ukraine and the United States are discussing a format for bilateral security guarantees similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter. He stated that this format is part of the 20-point peace plan, on which negotiations between Kyiv and Washington are ongoing.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, representatives from the United States, Ukraine, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom will meet in Paris on December 13<\/a> to discuss US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.<\/p>\n
