The Russian Central Bank has filed a lawsuit in a Moscow court regarding the \u201cillegal actions\u201d of the Belgian depository Euroclear, which holds frozen assets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by a propaganda news agency.<\/span><\/p>\n

As noted, the lawsuit concerns Euroclear’s actions, which allegedly “cause damage” and the European Commission’s initiative regarding a “repatriation loan” to Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

In particular, the Central Bank is demanding 18.2 trillion rubles from the Belgian depository, which is equal to almost 230 billion dollars.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the morning of December 15, it became known that the bank’s lawsuit had already been filed with the Moscow Arbitration Court.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recall that Belgium criticized the European Commission’s new proposal<\/a> to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, stating that the document is “categorically unacceptable.”<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the European Union is working on an urgent legal mechanism<\/a> that will allow frozen Russian money to be safely used to lend to Ukraine, avoiding risks for Belgium.<\/p>\n

As is known,the European Union is preparing an alternative financing scenario for Ukraine<\/a> in case the leaders fail to agree on using frozen Russian assets to create a reparations loan.<\/p>\n
