On Monday, December 15, the Council of the European Union expanded restrictions against Russia’s “shadow fleet”, imposing sanctions against five more individuals and four organizations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This<\/span> is stated<\/span><\/a> on the Council of Europe website.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sanctions target individuals and legal entities involved in supporting the \u201cshadow fleet\u201d and its financial chain, which helps Russia generate revenue.<\/span><\/p>\n

In particular, the list includes businessmen who are directly or indirectly connected to the state-owned oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil, who are involved in the economic sector and contribute to securing significant income.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, these individuals control vessels illegally transporting crude oil or petroleum products from Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their assets will be frozen, and European citizens and companies will be prohibited from providing them with funds. Also, individuals on the sanctions list will not be able to enter or travel within the EU.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, shipping companies from the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Russia that own or operate tankers in the \u201cshadow fleet\u201d have been restricted.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported thatthe European Union plans to decide to add another 40 shadow fleet vessels to the sanctions list against Russia<\/a> . The decision is to be made during a meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Zelensky signed a decree on the implementation of the NSDC decision<\/a> to impose sanctions against 656 naval vessels that are part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet.” This is the largest sanctions package ever imposed against this part of the Russian fleet.<\/p>\n

By the way, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree introducing new sanctions. The restrictions apply to vessels that have been illegally exporting Ukrainian products from temporarily occupied ports since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.<\/a><\/p>\n
