The American Institute for the Study of War reported that Russia is declaring its intention to reject Ukrainian and European amendments to the peace plan to end the war against Ukraine. The Kremlin claims that it will not agree to any changes, in particular on territorial issues.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated in the ISW<\/a> report.<\/p>\n

The Kremlin is putting forward conditions for rejecting Ukrainian and European proposals for a peace plan after previously rejecting key provisions of the option proposed by the United States, which was largely beneficial to Russia.<\/p>\n

Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian dictator, said that Russia had “very clearly” stated its position and would have “serious objections” if Ukraine and European countries made any changes to the peace plan.<\/p>\n

“Russia will have serious objections if Ukraine and Europe try to make amendments to the peace plan,” said Yuriy Ushakov.<\/p>\n

According to him, Russia will also not adopt provisions related to “territorial issues”, including discussing the possible creation of a buffer zone in Donbas.<\/p>\n

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, said that the Kremlin is not interested in revising the European position on a possible peace agreement.<\/p>\n

The day before, on December 14, Yuriy Ushakov stated that before the negotiations between the United States of America, Ukraine, and European countries in Berlin, the Kremlin made it clear that it would not agree to any changes to the peace plan to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Earlier, on December 13, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he would meet with representatives of the President of the United States of America Donald Trump and Ukraine’s European partners in the coming days to discuss a political agreement to end the war.<\/p>\n

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also reported that approaches to ending the war are being discussed in Berlin this weekend.<\/p>\n

Before arriving in Berlin, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that a fair and realistic option for a ceasefire could be the principle of “standing where we stand,” under which the Ukrainian and Russian military remain in their positions, and further issues are resolved diplomatically.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Yuriy Ushakov emphasized that the Kremlin will not adopt any changes to the peace plan to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n
