Dozens of people came to see the singer and composer off on his last journey, and the funeral service is taking place in the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This is reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/tsn.ua\/glamur\/u-lvovi-proshchaiutsia-zi-stepanom-hihoiu-iak-spivaka-provodzaiut-v-ostanniu-put-2978231.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TSN<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p> The funeral service for Stepan Giga began at 2:00 p.m. at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Lviv. The day before, a funeral service for All-Night Vigil was held in the church.<\/p>\n<p> People began to gather long before the ceremony began. At home, there was no holiday with the family without his songs. His songs have already become folk songs. The last few years, his concerts have been full of people. There were especially many young people and children &#8211; he united different generations. And it is very pleasing that as an artist he managed to gain real popularity during his lifetime,&#8221; said Volodymyr, a connoisseur of Stepan Giga&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n<p> During the farewell in the church, the priest addressed those present.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Today, the servant of God Stepan says goodbye to his family and his fans. We thank him for the love he has given us. The People&#8217;s Artist of Ukraine will be buried on the 75th field, in accordance with his will. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dFBv3lCosX8?si=PkeTXPFZ_6-cFTiI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3> <strong>Biography of Stepan Giga<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p> Stepan Petrovich Giga was born on November 16, 1959 in the village of Bilky, Irshava district, Transcarpathian region. He grew up in a working-class family and from an early age showed an interest in music. While still in school, Giga took vocal and bayan lessons, which contributed to the development of his musical abilities.<\/p>\n<p> After serving in the army, Stepan Giga entered the Uzhhorod Music School, where he continued to improve his vocal skills. Here he was also a member and later the leader of the ensemble &#8220;Green Carpathians&#8221;, with which he had performed since his teens.<\/p>\n<p> In 1983, Giga continued his studies at the vocal faculty of the Kyiv Conservatory, where he received a professional singer&#8217;s education. After graduating from the conservatory, he worked as a soloist of the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic, and later founded his own jazz-rock band &#8220;Beskyd&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p> After the band&#8217;s breakup in 1991, Stepan Giga began arranging and writing his own songs. In 1993, he began a solo career, and in 1995, he released his debut album &#8220;My Friends&#8221;, which marked the beginning of his widespread popularity.<\/p>\n<p> In 1998, the artist received the honorary title of Honored Artist of Ukraine, and in 2002 he was awarded the title of People&#8217;s Artist of Ukraine. In the same year, his album &#8220;Natal Street&#8221; became commercially successful and brought him the first Golden Disc in independent Ukraine for high sales.<\/p>\n<p> Stepan Giga&#8217;s creative output includes many famous compositions, including &#8220;Yavoryna&#8221;, &#8220;Zoloto Karpaty&#8221;, &#8220;Tsey son&#8221;, &#8220;Ostannya nich&#8221;, &#8220;Natalie&#8221; and &#8220;Koroleva&#8221;. His songs combined romantic melodies with folk motifs and were popular among different generations of listeners.<\/p>\n<p> In addition to his creativity, Giga was an active teacher: in 2006 he became a professor at the University of Music, and then performed as a soloist in philharmonics and toured with concerts in Ukraine and abroad, in particular in Europe and North America.<\/p>\n<p> After the start of Russia&#8217;s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Gigi&#8217;s work gained great popularity again. His songs began to be widely discussed on social networks, and the artist himself held a number of concerts in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p> Stepan Giga was married and had two children. His wife was the director of the recording studio GIGARecords, which the artist founded to produce and promote his own music.<\/p>\n<p> People&#8217;s Artist of Ukraine <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/pomer-narodnyy-artyst-ukrainy-stepan-hiha\/\">Stepan Giga died on December 12, 2025 in Lviv at the age of 66<\/a> after a long illness.
