The United States, Ukraine, and key European countries have made significant progress in intensive talks on ending the war, security guarantees, and the future of Ukraine’s recovery. The American side calls the talks “very positive” and the package of security guarantees the strongest ever proposed.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a><\/span> Kyiv Post,<\/span> citing American sources, with whom journalist Alex Raufoglu spoke.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to sources, the American delegation held a total of more than eight hours of direct talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky. In parallel, intensive consultations were held with the national security advisers and foreign ministers of Germany, the United Kingdom, and France.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

One American official described the talks as “really, really positive in almost every aspect.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The parties have made the greatest progress in the issue of security guarantees. The Americans have called them the “platinum standard” and “the best package of guarantees ever offered to Ukraine.” According to sources, these guarantees are not only based on the principles of NATO’s Article 5, but also go beyond it. They provide for deterrence mechanisms, observation of force deployment, ceasefire monitoring, and de-escalation tools.<\/span><\/p>\n

The American side also agreed to ratify the security guarantees through the US Senate. According to sources, Donald Trump is ready to take this step, which came as a surprise to both the Ukrainian and European sides.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kyiv Post’s interlocutors emphasize that these are no longer general concepts, but deeply worked out documents that were actually agreed upon at the level of working groups. The goal of the negotiations is to include in the package everything necessary for Ukrainians to feel real security.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Separately, US officials praised Europe’s role, calling its involvement “absolutely incredible.” They noted coordination with Germany, the UK, France, Poland, Italy and Nordic countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The talks also covered the issue of Ukraine’s long-term financial survival. The parties discussed a recovery plan with the participation of BlackRock and the World Bank, the return of Ukrainians from abroad, the state’s budgetary needs, military support, and compensation for families affected by the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As a separate bloc, the parties considered the possibility of using frozen Russian assets to restore Ukraine through the mechanism of international agreements.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to sources, there is also progress on the territorial issue. There is no final solution yet, but the parties managed to narrow the differences. Among the ideas discussed were phased approaches and the creation of special economic zones. President Zelensky should additionally consult with his team on the proposed options.<\/span><\/p>\n

Negotiations at the working group level will continue. The American side does not rule out new contacts, including trips to Russia. According to officials, the ultimate goal of the United States and its partners is to stop Russia’s further advance westward and create a long-term settlement that will make a new war impossible.<\/span><\/p>\n

After two days of intensive negotiations, European leaders, President Zelensky, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner held a joint dinner in Berlin. A joint phone call with Donald Trump is expected soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier it was reported that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that he does not rule out the possibility of a temporary ceasefire for Christmas in Russia’s war against Ukraine.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n
