The city administration said whether they are ready to replace the metro, trolleybuses and trams with buses, how much transport they can attract and whether it will be enough to transport passengers.

This is stated in the response of the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration, “Telegraph” reports.

The department reported that the municipal enterprise “Kyivpastrans” has developed an algorithm of actions in advance in case of emergency situations related to the lack of power supply and the stoppage of electric transport.

The first priority is to replace trolleybus and tram routes with bus services. In the event of a deterioration in the city’s power system, additional buses are planned for the main routes.

The Kyiv City State Administration emphasized that this will be additional transport – in addition to the rolling stock that operates daily in the usual mode. The number of buses will be determined depending on passenger traffic and the real situation in the city.

Separately, the administration noted that in case of emergency circumstances, in particular after shelling, the possibility of partial duplication of certain sections of the Kyiv Metro lines with bus routes will be considered.

However, the response does not specify whether this refers to complete duplication of traffic between terminal stations or only limited sections to interchanges. The Kyiv City State Administration also failed to answer how many buses they could attract in the event of a full or partial metro stop and whether this would be enough, in particular for connections between the banks of the Dnieper.

In response to the publication, the Kyiv Metro emphasized that the issue of duplicating metro traffic with ground transport is not within the competence of the enterprise. The organization of alternative transportation schemes and coordination of transport work are the responsibility of the city authorities.

The Metropolitan, in turn, implements only those decisions that are made at the Kyiv City State Administration level.

As for the city train, the administration noted that it is subordinate to Ukrzaliznytsia. It is the company that determines its operating mode and possible scenarios of action in the event of a power outage. So far, Ukrzaliznytsia has not addressed the city authorities with proposals for duplicating the train’s movement with buses.

We remind you that in Ukraine, power outage schedules may be significantly increased due to severe frosts , and some cities risk having only a few hours of electricity a day.

As reported, Ukraine’s energy system is on the verge of a serious collapse, and Kyiv and the eastern regions may be left without electricity.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

The Kyiv City State Administration explained how public transport in Kyiv will operate in the event of large-scale power outages.
