The Kremlin stated that Russia allegedly seeks not a temporary truce, but “full-fledged peace”, while rejecting the idea of a Christmas ceasefire.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow is not interested in a ceasefire, which he said could give Ukraine time to prepare for further hostilities. This is how he commented on Kyiv’s proposal for a Christmas ceasefire.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peskov also noted that Russia is allegedly considering the possibility of “making a deal,” which US President Donald Trump had previously referred to. According to him, the Kremlin is not ready to support solutions that he called “instantaneous and unviable.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kremlin spokesman stressed that Moscow’s position, he said, is “consistent and well-known” in both the United States and Ukraine. He said that Russia seeks to end the war on terms that will secure its “interests” and “guarantees peace in Europe.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier it was reported that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that he does not rule out the possibility of a temporary ceasefire for Christmas in Russia’s war against Ukraine.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Recall that the US is offering Ukraine security guarantees similar to the provisions of NATO’s Article 5, but Washington has hinted that the agreement must be signed by Christmas, otherwise the terms may become less favorable.<\/a><\/p>\n
