The Swedish Navy has stated that Russia has been conducting its operation in the Baltic Sea for some time, protecting the “shadow fleet”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by the Chief of the Operations Staff of the Swedish Navy, Marko Petkovi\u0107,<\/span> SVT Nyheter<\/span> reports<\/span><\/a> .<\/p>\n

It is noted that the Kremlin is expanding the presence of warships in a certain part of the Baltic Sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, armed servicemen were spotted on board the vessels of the Russian “shadow fleet”.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Petkovic, the Russian fleet’s presence has now become more permanent. It is located in various important points in the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t see any immediate risk in this, we have a good picture of the situation, and I don\u2019t think there is any reason for any concern,\u201d the chief of staff explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

As Coast Guard Deputy Chief of Operations Daniel Stanling noted, they are most noticeable in strategic locations near the coast.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added that the military on board the tanker shows how important the \u201cshadow fleet\u201d is to the Kremlin.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Council of the European Union expanded restrictions against the Russian “shadow fleet”<\/a> , imposing sanctions against five more individuals and four organizations.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Zelensky signed a decree implementing the NSDC decision<\/a> to impose sanctions on 656 naval vessels that are part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet.” This is the largest sanctions package ever imposed against this part of the Russian fleet.<\/p>\n
