Russian scientists have begun large-scale research into aging and the possibility of extending life, amid statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about potential longevity of up to 150 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As reported by Russian media, citing three scientific institutions in the Russian Federation, experiments are being conducted, in particular, on animals, testing various biologically active substances.<\/p>\n

Scientists are also investigating age-related changes in muscle mass and strength. One institute has developed molecules that “kill senescent cells” \u2014 that is, those that have stopped dividing \u2014 and thus, according to the researchers, slow down the aging process.<\/p>\n

The Russian Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician Petrovsky is creating a “biological age clock” and working on geroprotectors – substances that directly affect the mechanisms of aging.<\/p>\n

In one experiment, domestic cats were given green tea, grape seed, curcumin, and grapefruit extracts along with their food. According to the results of the experiments, the animals’ blood creatinine levels decreased by 15%, inflammatory markers and the activity of cellular aging genes decreased, and longevity proteins were activated.<\/p>\n

The Alexey Belozersky Research Institute of Physical and Chemical Biology at Moscow State University is studying autophagy, a process of cellular self-cleaning and repair that weakens with age and contributes to aging. They claim that several active molecules extend the life of nematode worms by 30%, and are now testing their effectiveness in mice, with plans for preclinical trials in rats and guinea pigs next year.<\/p>\n

Recall that, at the initiative of Vladimir Putin , state support for scientific projects aimed at combating aging has significantly increased in Russia.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, a large-scale project is underway in China, the goal of which is to overcome aging and significantly extend human life. The country’s government is investing billions in biotechnology, and private companies are developing pills and procedures that, according to them, can slow down or even stop the aging process.<\/a><\/p>\n
