{"id":1333711,"date":"2025-12-16T18:28:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T16:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/european-parliament-nears-decision-on-reparations-loan-for-ukraine\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T18:28:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T16:28:20","slug":"european-parliament-nears-decision-on-reparations-loan-for-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/european-parliament-nears-decision-on-reparations-loan-for-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"European Parliament nears decision on reparations loan for Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The European Parliament is preparing to approve the so-called reparations loan to Ukraine under an accelerated procedure following the decision of EU leaders to use frozen Russian assets.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurointegration.com.ua\/news\/2025\/12\/16\/7227254\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">is reported by<\/a> &#8220;European Truth&#8221; with reference to the press service of the European Parliament.<\/p>\n<p> The European Parliament said that MPs will apply the urgency procedure as soon as EU member states agree on further steps regarding Russian assets.<\/p>\n<p> It is expected that the vote on granting Ukraine a reparation loan will take place at the plenary session of the European Parliament in January 2026. On Tuesday, deputies already supported the acceleration of the legislative process regarding this project.<\/p>\n<p> The European Parliament explained that the new financial instrument should help cover Ukraine&#8217;s needs, support the state budget, military potential, defense industry, and Ukraine&#8217;s integration into the European defense industrial base.<\/p>\n<p> The proposed loan is linked to existing mechanisms for assistance to Ukraine and cooperation in the field of lending.<\/p>\n<p> After approval by the European Parliament, the decision must also be approved by EU member states.
