The Elysee Palace welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement of readiness for dialogue with French President Emmanuel Macron. Paris noted that it plans to determine the terms of possible negotiations in the coming days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Journalists noted that the French President’s residence confirmed its readiness to consider the format and conditions of potential contacts between Paris and Moscow. According to the French side, relevant decisions may be made in the coming days.<\/p>\n

The Elysee Palace stressed that any negotiations with Russia will be conducted in full transparency and in coordination with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European partners. It also emphasizes that the goal of any possible dialogue remains to achieve a strong and lasting peace in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The French side drew attention to the fact that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and Vladimir Putin’s position have effectively made dialogue impossible over the past 3 years.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Paris noted that against the backdrop of a clearer prospect of a ceasefire and peace negotiations, the resumption of contacts may be considered appropriate.<\/p>\n

Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron said they did not support Russia’s return to the G8 format<\/a> . There is no willingness among the G7 countries to make such a decision.<\/p>\n
