Ukrzaliznytsia has resumed passenger service between Odessa and Chisinau for the first time since 2022, providing a direct flight lasting 18 hours and 30 minutes. High demand for tickets indicates the need to restore the transport corridor after long interruptions due to hostilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noted that ticket sales from Odessa are open on a daily basis. 60% of tickets were sold in the first three hours. The occupancy rate of flights as of today is 61% for departures from Odessa and 93% for flights from Kyiv.<\/p>\n

“Demand was extremely high: 60% of tickets were sold in just the first three hours after the sale opened. As of today, the occupancy rate of flights is: 61% – from Odessa; 93% – from Kyiv,” the report says.<\/p>\n

The train departs from Odessa at 17:23<\/strong> and arrives in Chisinau the next day at 11:53<\/strong> . In the return direction, departure from Chisinau is scheduled for 17:42<\/strong> , arrival in Odessa at 11:40<\/strong> the next day. The cost of a reserved seat<\/strong> ticket is about 3 thousand hryvnias<\/strong> , and a compartment ticket<\/strong> is about four thousand hryvnias<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

The resumption of flights came after Russian attacks on a bridge across the Dniester River near the village of Mayaki on December 18, a key route between Odessa and Moldova. The shelling killed a woman and injured three of her children. Ukraine’s Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba said the bridge had been hit by more than 20 Russian strikes, forcing it to be temporarily closed.<\/p>\n

“A pontoon bridge has been deployed on site, along which reverse traffic is being carried out. The government also noted that an alternative route is being prepared, and it is planned to be deployed within a week,” Kuleba said.<\/p>\n

It is worth adding that until 2022, passenger rail service between Odessa and Chisinau was operated via Transnistria by agreement with the regime there. The restoration of the route is important for the restoration of transport corridors and ensuring the mobility of citizens between Ukraine and Moldova.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that after the Russian attack on the bridge in the Mayaki area , the authorities focused their work on providing alternative routes for transport in southern Ukraine<\/a> . This includes passenger transportation, freight transport, and transit flows to border checkpoints and in the Danube direction.<\/p>\n

On the eve, Ukrzaliznytsia introduced a new passenger train schedule, which expands travel options to European Union countries<\/a> . The changes provide for an increase in the number of international routes and convenient transfers for passengers from different regions of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
