Winter weather has spread from the Carpathian Mountains across Ukraine. On Thursday, December 26, snow, blizzards, icy conditions, and strong winds with gusts of 15\u201320 m\/s were reported across the country. Due to the worsening weather conditions, utility services in the regions are working in an enhanced mode.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Emergency Service and local authorities reported this.<\/p>\n

According to rescuers, the morning on Mount Pip Ivan was cloudy, with temperatures dropping to -11\u00b0C and northwesterly winds at around 12 m\/s. A nationwide alert has been issued. Forecasters warn of risks to energy, construction, and utility companies, as well as traffic congestion.<\/p>\n

Road clearing and treatment efforts continue in the regions. In Poltava, dozens of specialized equipment were deployed overnight and this morning to clear and sand key sections. Kharkiv is blanketed in snow, and utility workers are ensuring traffic flow. Heavy snowfall has been reported in Kyiv since overnight: over 180 pieces of equipment and manual cleaning crews are working on the streets, clearing highways, bridges, bus stops, and sidewalks.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In Brovary, 27 pieces of equipment and over 135 workers have been deployed for the work; the city has sufficient fuel and de-icing supplies. In the Donetsk region, 15 pieces of equipment are clearing roads, and the highways are open. In Kropyvnytskyi, the busiest streets are being cleared this morning, and drivers are being asked to limit travel. Snow has also fallen in the Sumy region.<\/p>\n

Forecasters predict continued snow and windy weather throughout the weekend and into the early part of next week. Ukrainians are urged to exercise caution on the roads, observe safety regulations, and dress warmly.<\/p>\n
