A routine update on the Ministry of Finance website has sent a shiver through Ukraine\u2019s economy. Stripped of its bureaucratic euphemisms about \u201cautomation,\u201d the proposal looks disturbingly like a manual for financial control, last perfected at the Lubyanka.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deputy Minister of Finance Svitlana Vorobey<\/strong> and People\u2019s Deputy Ihor Marchuk<\/strong>\u2014loyal \u201cminions\u201d of Danylo Hetmantsev<\/strong>\u2014held a meeting at which they effectively announced fiscal punishment for the simplified taxation system. The issue on the table was the introduction of VAT for single taxpayers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Let us dismantle this act of betrayal brick by brick, using their own words and the reality they are trying to conceal.<\/p>\n

1. The Lie About \u201cFear\u201d and \u201cFree Cheese.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Finance delivers its key message: \u201cWe have heard the fears of business\u2026 We are currently drafting regulations in a way that will protect honest entrepreneurs as much as possible.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Stop. What \u201cfears\u201d? This is not anxiety; it is outrage, resistance, and outright rejection. When you talk about imposing VAT on microbusinesses, you are not talking about \u201cprotection.\u201d You are talking about a noose.<\/p>\n

Calling this reaction \u201cfears\u201d is like an executioner telling his victim: \u201cI understand your concerns about the axe, so I\u2019ve sharpened it to make things more comfortable.\u201d<\/em> Yuzhanina is absolutely right to call this blasphemy.<\/p>\n

The promise of a \u201ctax credit accumulation period\u201d is nothing more than the classic free cheese in a mousetrap. You are being lured into a system from which there is no escape.<\/p>\n\t\t
