China has imposed sanctions on US defense companies over arms sales to Taiwan. The restrictions affect 20 US companies and their executives.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Reuters reports<\/a> this.<\/p>\n

China’s Foreign Ministry announced the sanctions on December 26 after Washington agreed to a record defense package for Taiwan.<\/p>\n

The restrictions include Boeing’s St. Louis division, Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation and L3Harris Maritime Services. China also imposed sanctions on the founder of Anduril Industries and nine executives of other defense companies.<\/p>\n

The sanctions include a ban on entry to China, a freeze on assets in the country, and a ban on Chinese companies and citizens from doing business with them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beijing’s decision was in response to the US sale of $11.1 billion in arms to Taiwan, the largest defense package the United States has ever agreed to for the island.<\/p>\n

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the Taiwan issue is the country’s key national interest and a “red line” in relations between China and the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was previously reported that China has placed over a hundred intercontinental ballistic missiles in mines near the border with Mongolia and is actively building up its nuclear potential.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that China is not interested in ending the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n
