The Russian leadership has refused to support Ukraine’s peace plan and has declared its lack of readiness for a ceasefire. Analysts note that Moscow is maintaining its previous war goals while simultaneously increasing its rhetoric of pressure on NATO.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).<\/p>\n

Analysts noted that the Kremlin rejected Ukraine’s 20-point peace plan, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented on December 24 after consultations with the United States and European partners.<\/p>\n

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that they do not plan to sign any ceasefire agreements in the near future, despite signals of possible progress in the negotiations.<\/p>\n

“It is inappropriate to set specific dates for a peaceful settlement,” said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.<\/p>\n

He also placed responsibility for the lack of progress on Ukraine and European states.<\/p>\n

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War emphasized that Moscow’s strategic goals remain unchanged. They include destroying the combat capability of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, eliminating the legitimate government, and eliminating the sovereignty of the state.<\/p>\n

It is also noted that Russian diplomacy is trying to use the summit between the United States and Russia, which took place in Alaska in August 2025. Moscow interprets this meeting as an allegedly agreed framework for the future peace process, but official statements from the American side refute these claims.<\/p>\n

In addition, Russia has once again resorted to blackmailing NATO. Statements by Russian officials call the expansion of the Alliance one of the so-called root causes of the war, and also call for a radical revision of NATO policy in accordance with ultimatums issued at the end of 2021.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the planned meeting with US President Donald Trump, security guarantees for Ukraine and territorial issues will be the key topics<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Let us recall that the presented \u201cpeace plan\u201d, which includes 20 points, is most likely the first line of retreat for the Ukrainian side<\/a> , rather than the final compromise.<\/p>\n
