Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced additional economic assistance to Ukraine, totaling $2.5 billion, to help unlock funding from international financial institutions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine<\/a> .<\/p>\n

The announcement was made during a meeting between Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the Canadian Prime Minister, the additional funds should support Ukraine’s economic stability and launch recovery processes.<\/p>\n

“Today we are announcing additional economic assistance to Ukraine. Economic assistance in the amount of $2.5 billion. This will help unlock financing from the IMF, from the World Bank, from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to begin this recovery process,” said Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.<\/p>\n

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Canada for the support provided and stressed the need to increase international pressure on Russia.<\/p>\n

“And for this we need two things – pressure on Russia and sufficiently strong support for Ukraine,” said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

The head of state also announced his intention to discuss with the Prime Minister of Canada the issue of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.<\/p>\n

“In recent weeks, we have made good steps in diplomacy, but we cannot live under the illusion that this gives us the opportunity to have less air defense. This does not work with Russia,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Canada will provide Ukraine with over 92 million hryvnias to strengthen cybersecurity<\/a> as part of a new support package for the Tallinn Mechanism, an international initiative that brings together 12 countries to assist in the cyberspace.<\/p>\n

Recall that Canada will allocate $500 million for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine under the PURL program.<\/a><\/p>\n
