A meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump has begun in the United States. The talks are taking place at the private Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the Mar-a-Lago residence on December 28. Donald Trump personally met the Ukrainian leader at the entrance to the estate.<\/p>\n

The talks are taking place in the main dining room of the residence. The main topics of discussion include security guarantees for Ukraine, possible deadlines for their implementation within the framework of a potential peace agreement, as well as the issue of economic assistance for the reconstruction of the state.<\/p>\n

Before the meeting began, Donald Trump made a number of statements to reporters.<\/p>\n

“I don’t have deadlines. My only deadline is to end the war,” said Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

He also spoke about the positions of the parties.<\/p>\n

“I think Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin want to make a deal,” said Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Speaking about a possible security agreement, the US President noted that its content has not yet been determined.<\/p>\n

“Nobody even knows what will be written in the security agreement. But there will be an agreement – and it will be strong,” said Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

He also described the stage of the negotiation process.<\/p>\n

“We are in the final stages of negotiations. It will either stop or it will take a very long time,” said Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the recent strikes on Russian territory, Donald Trump made assumptions about their origin.<\/p>\n

“I believe that Ukraine has also carried out some very strong attacks. There have been several explosions in different parts of Russia. I don’t think it came from Congo. I don’t think it came from the United States of America. It may have come from Ukraine,” Donald Trump said.<\/p>\n

After the initial statements to the press, journalists were asked to leave the residence. Further negotiations between the President of Ukraine and the President of the United States continued behind closed doors.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/a> before meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Talks between the US and Ukrainian leaders are set to begin in about an hour.<\/p>\n
