Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War have said that Vladimir Putin and the Russian Armed Forces command are systematically exaggerating military “successes” in Ukraine. Such statements, according to experts, are aimed at creating a false impression about the state of Ukrainian defense on the eve of important international contacts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).<\/p>\n

Analysts noted that on December 27, Vladimir Putin held another public meeting with the leadership of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and commanders of the military groups. The ISW viewed it as a demonstration event designed to enhance the informational impact of the Kremlin’s statements.<\/p>\n

According to analysts, during this meeting, Putin, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, and commanders of Russian groups made a number of statements regarding the alleged complete or almost complete occupation of certain Ukrainian settlements that do not correspond to the real situation on the battlefield.<\/p>\n

“Putin and his commanders exaggerate Russia’s claimed successes at the subtactical or tactical level, presenting them as operational or strategic achievements,” analysts at the Institute for the Study of War noted.<\/p>\n

ISW noted that the claims of the capture of Myrnograd, Rodynske, Kupyansk, and Hulyaipol are not confirmed by open source data. According to analysts, Russian troops are present only in part of the territories of these settlements, and control over them remains incomplete.<\/p>\n

“ISW only observed evidence of a Russian presence within approximately 49% of Myrnograd and up to 55% of Hulyaipol territory,” the analysts reported.<\/p>\n

The Institute for the Study of War also emphasized that the Kremlin is actively using videos of small groups of military personnel raising Russian flags to create an information effect. Such actions, according to experts, do not indicate real control over the territories.<\/p>\n

Analysts believe that such information campaigns are aimed at creating the impression of Russia’s alleged rapid advance and the weakening of Ukrainian defenses, which does not correspond to actual data from the front.<\/p>\n

The day before, it became known that the situation in the city of Hulyaipole remains difficult<\/a> , with part of the settlement under the control of Russian troops. At the same time, a significant part of the city continues to be held by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that as of December 28, the Russian occupation army was advancing on several sections of the front<\/a> in the Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are investigating reports of the alleged capture by Russian troops of one of the control points in Hulyaipil<\/a> , Zaporizhia region.<\/p>\n

The day before, it became known that in the Hulyaipol area of Zaporizhia region there is<\/a> a risk of complicating the defense situation due to internal problems in one of the territorial defense units. We are talking about possible cases of sabotage and disinformation.<\/span><\/p>\n
