The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has announced suspicion against another MP in the case of systematic receiving of illegal benefits for voting in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The person in the proceedings is Mykhailo Laba, a representative of the “Servant of the People” faction.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to journalists, suspicion was declared against the fifth MP as part of the investigation into the so-called money in envelopes. Law enforcement sources reported that this is a member of the “Servant of the People” faction, Mykhailo Laba.<\/p>\n

Earlier, MPs Yevhen Pyvovarov, Ihor Negulevskyi, and Yuriy Kisel were suspected in this case. It was also reported that suspicion was being prepared for Yuriy Koryavchenkov, but he left the territory of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

What is known about Mikhail Laba?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mykhailo Laba is a People’s Deputy of Ukraine from the Servant of the People party, elected in 2019 from electoral district No. 70 in the Zakarpattia region. He is a member of the faction of the same name and the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Budget Issues.<\/p>\n

In parliament, Laba participated in key votes: on July 22, 2025, he supported bill 12414, which introduced the dependence of the work of NABU and SAPO on the Prosecutor General, effectively limiting the independence of anti-corruption agencies. In late 2022, he voted for urban planning reform (#5655), which was supposed to be implemented in the interests of developers and reduce the influence of citizens on the reconstruction of Ukraine; the bill has not yet entered into force due to public opposition.<\/p>\n

Before being elected to the Verkhovna Rada, Laba was involved in local government: since 2010, he was the Nevytsky village head and president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Government Bodies \u201cAssociation of Village, Settlement Councils and United Communities of Ukraine.\u201d He is also the founder of 7 organizations.<\/p>\n

Previously, he worked as a deputy of the Uzhhorod District Council (2006\u20132010), where he was the secretary of the budget commission and the head of the “People’s” faction of the “People’s Party”, and before that, he was a deputy of the district council (2002\u20132006) and the Nevytsk village council (1998\u20132002).<\/p>\n

The case of “money in envelopes”<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On Thursday, December 11, journalists<\/a> reported on wiretapping in the office of MP Yuriy Kisel, which allowed detectives to record his contacts with former first assistant to the president Serhiy Shefir and other high-ranking officials. According to<\/a> sources, during the investigative actions, detectives came across the so-called “cash window” through which the deputies received shadow payments.<\/p>\n

Later, on December 27, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced the exposure of another criminal scheme. The suspects were informed of suspicions under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to journalists, the court ruling also mentioned Articles 255 and 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is not excluded that they may be added when choosing a preventive measure.<\/p>\n

The NABU investigation into this case began during the leadership of Artem Sytnyk. At that time, People’s Deputy Anton Polyakov claimed about payments to deputies in envelopes, in particular, $5,000 for ordinary parliamentarians and $10,000\u201315,000 for committee leaders.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, during an undercover operation , exposed an organized criminal group that included current members of the Ukrainian parliament<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Subsequently, audio recordings appeared online of Yuriy Koryavchenkov, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party, instructing the police on who would investigate the cases and how.<\/a><\/p>\n

At the same time, it became known that former comedian of the “Kvartal 95” studio, People’s Deputy (Faction “Servant of the People”) Yuriy Koryavchenkov left Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n
