The Verkhovna Rada has begun work on legislative proposals regarding holding elections during and after war.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The inaugural meeting of the Working Group, which is preparing proposals for organizing and holding elections in a special period or in the post-war period, was held on December 26. The meeting was broadcast online<\/a> .<\/p>\n

The meeting was chaired by First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Kornienko. Representatives of the parliament, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Central Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, public organizations, and the expert community joined the discussion.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the participants determined the working procedure of the Working Group, its regulations and further steps. Separately, they heard the report of the Central Election Commission on the organizational challenges of preparing and holding elections during a special period and possible ways of their legislative regulation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Working Group currently consists of 64 participants. Among them are representatives of all parliamentary factions and groups, the Office of the President, the Cabinet of Ministers, military structures, the Supreme Court, public organizations, and the expert community.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Verkhovna Rada noted that the work of the Working Group will be conducted openly and transparently. The next meeting is scheduled for the first half of January, no later than the 9th. Additionally, the work will continue in subgroups.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, on December 26, the Verkhovna Rada held the first meeting of the working group preparing legislative proposals for holding elections in a special period<\/a> . One of the key tasks will be to develop mechanisms to counter possible Russian interference in the electoral process.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko announced the first meeting of the working group, which is preparing legislative proposals on the organization of elections during martial law and in the post-war period.<\/a><\/p>\n
