Today, January 4, 2026, in the courtyard of a house on Heroiv Dnipra Street in Kyiv, a car exploded while the trunk was being opened. As a result of the incident, a serviceman received shrapnel wounds, while a woman nearby was not injured.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the press service<\/a> of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.<\/p>\n

“Investigators are investigating the circumstances of the explosion and the persons involved, and the necessary investigative actions are ongoing,” the prosecutor’s office reported.<\/p>\n

A serviceman was injured in the explosion, suffering shrapnel wounds. A woman nearby was not injured, law enforcement officials said.<\/p>\n

“Currently, we are taking all measures to establish the source of the explosion and its motives,” the SBU noted.<\/p>\n

A pre-trial investigation has been opened into the explosion under Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for a terrorist act. The category of terrorist acts includes actions that pose a danger to the life or health of people.<\/p>\n

The investigation is ongoing, with expert examinations and witness interviews ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the incident. <\/p>\n
