The fifth President also noted that he is the only public figure against whom sanctions have been imposed simultaneously by the authorities of an aggressor state and the Ukrainian authorities. &#8220;It is obvious to the entire world, to the entire country, that the sanctions against me, as the leader of the opposition, as the fifth President, were illegal, unconstitutional, and baseless. The authorities&#8217; only tactic from the very beginning was to delay the process. A decision on this matter could have been made back in May,&#8221; Petro Poroshenko stated. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\ud83d\udd25LIVE! A TRIAL AGAINST ZELENSKY FOR ILLEGAL SANCTIONS!\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/G4DZ_opkVYk?feature=oembed\" width=\"678\" height=\"509\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p> &#8220;For 11 months, I&#8217;ve been deprived of my constitutional rights as a citizen, as a member of parliament, and as an opposition leader. There&#8217;s no illusion they won&#8217;t win this case. Their only winning tactic is to drag it out for 11 months,&#8221; Poroshenko said.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;I&#8217;m the only example of sanctions harmonization, where Putin&#8217;s sanctions imposed against me were synchronized with Zelenskyy&#8217;s. There&#8217;s nothing else like it in the world, and there&#8217;s nothing like it in Ukraine. Two weeks ago, the Basmanny Court in Moscow ruled against me for genocide, which manifested itself in the killing of Russian soldiers. For seven years, I&#8217;ve been the target of illegal criminal proceedings, political pressure, corporate raiding, and violations of my electoral rights. I&#8217;m one of the few people banned from conducting business. This means I can&#8217;t open a campaign account, I can&#8217;t sign election documents, I can&#8217;t participate,&#8221; Poroshenko noted.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Zelenskyy has no other options but to avoid showing up himself. According to the Code of Administrative Procedure, he has no representatives here who could fall ill, be displeased, get irritated, or falsify sick leave the way they falsified the sanctions petition. I emphasize again that six of those who voted for sanctions at the National Security and Defense Council are subjects of the &#8216;Mindich tapes.&#8217; In the morning, they sent a &#8216;two-letter note&#8217; to Moscow, and in the evening, they voted for sanctions against Poroshenko,&#8221; the fifth President recalled. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-98806\" src=\"https:\/\/eurosolidarity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img_20260105_103811-1024x683.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eurosolidarity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img_20260105_103811-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/eurosolidarity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img_20260105_103811-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eurosolidarity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img_20260105_103811-768x512.jpg 768w\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p> It was previously revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/eurosolidarity.org\/2025\/10\/06\/nezakonni-sankcziyi-proty-poroshenka-u-verhovnomu-sudi-splyvaye-dedali-bilshe-falsyfikaczij-i-porushen-zakonu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">during the case&#8217;s consideration<\/a> that some of the documents on the basis of which the sanctions were imposed were submitted to the National Security and Defense Council retroactively after the decision had been made and the Decree had been signed.<\/p>\n<p> Poroshenko&#8217;s lawyers have added documents to the case file proving the identical wording in publications about Poroshenko on resources linked to Portnov, in the corresponding <a href=\"https:\/\/petition.president.gov.ua\/petition\/240812\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">petition<\/a> , which did not receive the necessary votes, and in the justification for sanctions in President Zelenskyy&#8217;s decree.<\/p>\n<p> The court also added to the case file <a href=\"https:\/\/hudoc.echr.coe.int\/eng#{%22itemid%22:[%22002-14527%22]}\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the ECHR&#8217;s<\/a> decision of October 16, 2025, which found that sanctioned individuals in Ukraine lack adequate opportunities to protect their rights and due procedural guarantees against arbitrary action during judicial review of sanctions decisions. Representatives of Zelenskyy and the Cabinet of Ministers attempted to object to the addition of the ECHR&#8217;s decision to the case file, but the court upheld Poroshenko&#8217;s motion.<\/p>\n<p> At previous Supreme Court hearings, evidence of falsified sanctions against Poroshenko was examined. Poroshenko&#8217;s lawyers <a href=\"https:\/\/eurosolidarity.org\/2025\/11\/21\/poroshenko-u-verhovnomu-sudi-ti-sami-lyudy-yaki-rozkradaly-derzhavu-odnochasno-golosuvaly-v-rnbo-za-nezakonni-sankcziyi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">showed<\/a> a film produced by the 1+1 television channel in which Zelenskyy openly admitted that the National Security and Defense Council is his weapon and that he uses it. He claimed this is because it&#8217;s more effective than following the law. The president&#8217;s representative in court urged that interviews and public statements by the president be disregarded, as they, she argued, do not determine the court&#8217;s position on the sanctions against Poroshenko.<\/p>\n<p> At a closed court hearing, the panel of judges reviewed documents marked &#8220;for official use only,&#8221; which served as the basis for the National Security and Defense Council&#8217;s decision. According to lawyer Ilya Novikov, the documents provide no adequate explanation as to why the authorities urgently needed to impose sanctions against the fifth president within a matter of hours. Furthermore, he noted that some of the documents provided by the defendants were falsified. In the closed portion of the hearing, government representatives also stated that the sanctions against Poroshenko were imposed for educational purposes.<\/p>\n<p> Earlier, <a href=\"https:\/\/eurosolidarity.org\/2025\/08\/19\/predstavnyczya-zelenskogo-u-verhovnomu-sudi-vyznala-shho-v-ukaz-shhodo-sankczij-vnosylys-zminy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">President Zelenskyy&#8217;s representative to the Supreme Court acknowledged<\/a> that changes were made to the signed decree implementing the National Security and Defense Council&#8217;s decision on sanctions against Poroshenko, which she called &#8220;technical amendments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> As lawyer Ihor Golovan previously reported, the Vinnytsia District Administrative Court&#8217;s ruling on Petro Poroshenko&#8217;s lawsuit against the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) staff and the NSDC Secretary entered into force on July 31.
