Law enforcement officers have exposed a serviceman from a unit in the Dnipropetrovsk region suspected of accepting a bribe in exchange for a promise to facilitate the rotation of a soldier from the combat zone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Bureau of Investigation reported<\/u><\/a> this.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the soldier’s family had not contacted him for over six months and were trying to find out his fate. Through acquaintances, they contacted an official at a regional military unit. The official assured them the soldier was fine, but took advantage of the family’s emotional state to offer to “negotiate” his inclusion in the rotation list.<\/p>\n

The suspect demanded $9,000 for his “services” and insisted on the funds being transferred as quickly as possible. He was arrested on January 1 in Dnipro while accepting the bribe.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The serviceman was notified of suspicion of abuse of influence under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court ordered his pretrial detention with the possibility of posting bail. If found guilty, he faces up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Investigators are checking for possible involvement in the crime of other individuals, including among the military unit’s command.<\/p>\n
